• PREMIUM TECHNOLOGY AND MATERIALS

Surfboard technology has come a long way in recent years. The modern surfboard is now better designed, better shaped and better finished than ever before. On top of that, you the surfer now have many more options to choose from when choosing your next magic board.

Joistik gives you the option to choose whether you want a traditional PU (polyurethane foam) board, a new epoxy/EPS board (expanded polystyrene foam with epoxy resin) or a carbon wrap Karboload design to make sure your next board is perfect for the waves you ride and the way you ride.

    PU Boards

Traditional PU boards are still the go-to choice for plenty of surfers. From beginners right through to the world’s best. Having more flex, more tail in the water and sitting a bit lower they deliver the goods in a range of conditions.

    The Glass Lab

Based in Tweed Heads, we trust The Glass Lab with making sure your Joistik surfboard is glassed, sanded and finished to the highest possible standard. Run by surfers for surfers, so you can trust the quality of what you’re ordering when you purchase a Joistik.

    Epoxy Boards

Epoxy boards are made with an EPS (expanded polystyrene) core. EPS is lighter, stronger & more buoyant that traditional PU foam. This can help with paddling speed, buoyancy & manoeuvrability, especially in smaller surf.

    Karboload

Our Karboload technology is designed to compliment and enhance the performance benefits that come with choosing an epoxy board. Joistik’s Karboload surfboards utilise carbon in this layup to best enhance it’s energy potential and flex/recoil properties. It is also the only tech to effectively manage this across all three planes of a surfboards flex: longitudinally, torsionally and transversely, but more importantly in the right places along the board, with a parabolic and efficient load up and release of energy.

Fantastic board and service! Thank you Nick. The board is perfect for me and I would thoroughly recommend Joistik surfboards and Nick Blair’s custom board offering.

I have had quite a few of Nick’s boards and we have been working together for a number of years. Some of my favourites are the CabSav, GHT longboard perfect for nose riding and the GX longboard I found perfect in point break conditions. Nick is also extremely competent in epoxy construction. With Nick’s attention to detail and knowledge of surfing, he assists in the customising process to help you find the board you are looking for. coupled with the ability to reproduce a favourite board, he is the best shaper I have worked with.

I have 3 of Nick’s boards now and have been impressed with all of them. Nick customises his models depending on your size and his calculations for me have been spot on. I keep going back to nick because I know they are always quality. My surfing has improved out of sight riding boards that are best suited for me.

The Walker Powell family all have Joistik surfboards. Nick Blair other than being a good bloke will make you surf beyond your ability with the magic carpets he puts under your feet.

The CabSav2 is the queen of the grovelers without any doubts. Nick’s customs are never-ending stoke providers

“I’ve got 2 custom boards from Nick and couldn’t be happier. Working off my height, weight and what I was after with my boards he was able to deliver exactly what I wanted. If you are after someone to shape you a board to suit your individual needs then Nick is your man.”

“I finally grabbed myself a Joistik Cab Sav II and can honestly say it is by far the best groveler I’ve ever ridden. Is it wrong to turn up at the beach hoping it’s only 2-3ft cause it’s all I want to ride? Hell no! This board is so much fun that I don’t care if the waves are small. Nick was great to deal with and I look forward to ordering another Joistik to add to my quiver.”

“I’ve been riding Nick’s Cab Sav for a little under a year now, and come out of the surf surprised every time I surf it. I ride this small wave ripper in 0-3ft small surf more often than not as a quad. Rather than only being super fun in weak junkie surf, I’ve had some top sessions in more punchy small wave conditions. I got this board as a custom from Nick, and I couldn’t fault his service. He listened to what I was after, and produced the goods. Just about to get in touch with him for the next one, so just a heads up Nick!”

“Picked up the sweetest Cab Sav from Nick just over a year ago. Everyone raved about this groveller but had to try it myself. Unreal and super stoked! Top notch!!! Nothing beats a custom from this guy. Thanks Nick!”.

“Been riding Nick’s boards for a while and the Cab Sav model is the one I’ve been riding the most, escpicially around Manly slop. Little nug of a board and easy to ride!”.

“I’ve been riding Nick’s boards for a number of years now and everyone if ever owned is ridiculous. I’m not your average surfer build 5ft 7 93kg and could never get a board off the shelf. Since Nick has been custom shaping boards for me, my surfing has improved dramatically.  Do ya self a favour and get on one”.

“These boards are just getting better and better been riding the Renegade as my all rounder for a while now and letting Nick fine tune them as he goes. Seriously every board I get off him is faster than the last, great shaper”.

“I would recommend Joistik to anyone that is looking for a professional company that provides epic boards to suit all conditions. Nick has a range that really helped me on my last surf trip to the Banyak Islands in indo, some days were solid and the boards felt amazing.”

“My favourite shape is the Vector (with conza bottom) – 5’10, possibly the most fun board I have ever had. It is my go to board for 1-3ft, after that then I am on my Renegade model (6’1). The Renegade loves a steeper wave and handles quite a large wave height range. So stoked on both boards and Nick is awesome to deal with – great experience both in the boards performances but also perfectly matching his models up to the surf I’m normally in. Looking forward to my next board off Nick – need a nice 6’3 for larger days!”

“Nick produces high quality boards and fine tunes his designs to bring out the best in individual surfers. I have ridden 4 of his boards and have been so happy with all of them. They make average conditions as fun as, and just fly when the waves are good.”

“Nick is a fantastic local shaper with huge knowledge and experience. Very pleasant to deal with. Have ridden the Silent Savage and the Twin Cab models. Both boards exceeded my expectations in average Sydney conditions and on a recent trip to the Maldives. Got my eye on the CabSav next????.”

“Nick is an absolute relief to deal with compared to previous custom shapers I’ve used. His board came back better than expected and matched exactly what we discussed. What ever foam he’s using it’s super light/strong/floaty and the glass jobs awesome with no sand throughs etc. I work in the composite industry and used to make boards myself in the 80’s, wish I’d found Nick a long time ago.”

“Nick is a full legend, he provides top knowledge on surfboard shapes and top quality.
Just got my custom Scrob in Karboload Technology and couldn’t be any happier.
    Highly recommend!”

“I’m on my 3rd Joistik from Nick and each one has been epic. 6’4 Bombay Blues, 6’0 Cab Sav 2 and gHT 9’2 mal. Nick has always taken the time to understand what I’m looking for in a board, the level at which I surf and how I want to progress. In taking this time to consider current and previous boards he is able to hit the money with what I’ve been after each time. Nick gets a solid yeeeeooooowwww 5/5 from me”

“This is my 4th Joistik and I will keep going back. Board shapes and finishes are fantastic. Nick Blair is a professional operator and shaping genius…”

All our boards, custom made or off-the-rack, start life on Nick’s computer. There, with years of experience and using his extensive technical knowledge the shape comes to life in state-of-the-art board shaping software.

From there, they are cut in Sydney on an AKU shaper machine run & maintained by a team with decades of experience in the surf industry. Once cut, Nick hand shapes and finishes all boards himself, adding the finesse and craftsmanship you’d expect from one of the best in the business.

After the shaping is done, our boards head north to be sanded & finished. This is done at the best glass house in the country The Glass Lab with Adam, Bernie & the team. Art work is applied. You can look for inspiration here. The boards then make their way across Australia and the globe.
