Karboload Technology Testing
We been pushing Karboload Technology to its limits and testing it in competition, all waves and conditions. The result is a lightweight, lively and highly responsive surfboard that feels amazing and is built to last.
I also spent time on the Goldy with Sel and Mar to fine tune the technology, reflect on the last year and make plans for the future. We’ve now been working together for over 10 years and look forward to another decade! WSL surfer Oney Anwar has been riding his new Karboloads on the Gold Coast and back home in Indonesia and has given Karboload Technology a big thumbs up and is ready to ride it on the tour. Meanwhile many of Japans top surfers are riding it in the JPSA events. The great thing about this technology is it also works when the waves turn on and has been proven in surf in the 4-6ft range.
Nick Blair believes Karboload Technology is the only carbon/epoxy glassing layup out there where its two unique attributes, Parallel Performance (on the deck) and Y-Flex (on the bottom), work seamlessly together to best utilise the performance attributes of carbon. Joistik’s Karboload boards utilise carbon in this layup to best enhance it’s energy potential and flex/recoil properties. It is also the only tech to effectively manage this across all three planes of a surfboards flex: longitudinally, torsionally and transversely, but more importantly in the right places along the board, with a parabolic and efficient load up and release of energy.
Speed and response through rail transitions and turns is instantaneous, but stable and smooth, directly hingeing off the surfer’s foot pressure and centre of gravity. Importantly too, the carbon is utilised on the outer layers of deck and bottom- so that it is truly in tension when the surfboard flexes (in internal carbon laminates, the amount of tension and therefore energy feedback, decreases parabolically towards the centre of the core as the surfboard flexes).
